Once the purpose was achieved (salvation being open to Gentiles and Jews alike) then the hardening serve no further purpose. Not to say that Israel in large part is not blind through their own ignorance or stubbornness,but that their no divine component to their hardening, but rather they may come to salvation, after all 'now is the day of salvation'.
