AFRAID OF FALLING INTO HERESY?
Many are afraid of falling into Heresy. Some are cautious of what they hear for same reasons. I understand and appreciate the need to be balanced in doctrine and Biblical concepts. But we may need to consider the fact part of learning is unlearning what we had believed to be true.
Many people are afraid of falling into what they fallen into. That is why there is always a need to challenge your beliefs if it consistent with the true nature of God. What you know and held to for a long time may be holding you from experiencing the abundant life in Christ.
I personally believe Heresy has coloured Christianity for the past 400 years going by the history of church acceptance into Roman institutions, locking of the bible in monasteries, burning and killing of bible translators. I believe God is unveiling the gospel just the way it was delivered to Paul. The whole gospel is all about unveiling Jesus from Genesis to Revelation. He is taking us back to ancient paths and an “Old Time Religion”.
The main reason the Apostles were hunted down by the Jewish religious leaders was because they told them that their good works and temple activities are no longer relevant in God’s current agenda. It was an insult to tell them the laws would never get you right with God but faith in Jesus name. That was rubbishing 1,500 years of religion in the tabernacle and making nonsense of the slaughter of over 2 billions lambs and animals.
Christianity was a threat to the foundation that made them Jewish; the law of Moses. Look at the case of Stephen in Acts 6:
11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, “This man does not cease to speak blasphemous[c] words against this holy place and the law; 14 for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”
Now the Pharisees are back declaring that your righteousness is not complete unless you keep the 10 commandments. Friends we are all in the constant process of renewing our minds now so that we can prove what is the acceptable, good and perfect will of God expressed through Jesus Christ. Heresy is simply saying “That the finished work is not finished” so you have you do something to make it tangible and perfected.
Rest in this: You are complete in Christ who is the head over principalities and powers. His righteousness has been credited to your heavenly account. Colossians 2:10
"Part of learning is unlearning what we had believed to be true…" This is so true! I am in that process now and it is so precious! I need to share this message with many! (May I post it on FB?)
