LIVE LIFE NOW

We have been freed from 2 major terrible vices by the blood of Jesus Christ: Yesterday and Tomorrow. Our yesterdays can trap us in guilt and regret. The guilt is over sins committed and mistakes that we made and the regret is for things that we could have and should have done for one reason or the other especially as we see the year come to a close. Jesus Christ’s death removed all condemnation over yesterday, setting us free from this prison of guilt and regret (Romans 8:1).

The other terrible vice is tomorrow. Tomorrow is yet to come, just as the new year is around the corner. It promises limitless possibilities and potential for great error. This is so because the enemy always emphasizes our weaknesses, shortcomings and inadequacies.
Our tomorrow can paralyze us with fear and torment, making us to shy away from taking chances available to us today because we dread the idea that we could ruin that tomorrow. As many are also uncertain about the new year and can only hope that God will not hold anything against them because of failed promises, pledges and resolutions.

Jesus advised in Matthew 6
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

Christ’s blood at Calvary was to assure us eternal life and the ever-cleansing power of forgiveness of sins. In Jesus there is no fear of tomorrow, for it is in His hands. God dealt with our sins and shortcomings even before we were committed them well ahead of time. It proves His proactiveness in securing our future in Him.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world today about economies, governments and policies, insurgencies here and there. It is enough to take out the life out of life. It can only dim out the possibility of a bright future. We have to ensure to ensure is not in the news but in Him who can change the news.

There’s only proper thing to do. It is to live in the moment. Living in the moment is allowing Jesus to take the reins of life and captain your vessel. Your past is stained and dirty, but none of that matters in Christ, for He has removed the sin. Your future is uncertain in human terms but is all secure in the skillful hands of the Father. Rest where you are, for that is where He is!

When you find yourself at rest in Him, you position yourself where God’s goodness can hunt you down. It doesn’t matter what the statistics show today. You are numbered in Him and the Lord has tattooed you on the palms of His hands. I leave you to meditate and receive this scripture for yourself.

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD,
    whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
    that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
    its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
    and never fails to bear fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
