THE DAVID AND JONATHAN STORY, COVENANT SECRET OF WEALTH

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”
– 2 Chronicles 16:9
The Hebrew word for “Show Himself strong” means to bestow, grant, extend His covenant wealth. We have to realize that shared prosperity is one of the major benefits of covenant. This new covenant by Jesus takes us to a place where we can benefit all that is due to Him.
Our covenant with God is His total commitment to support, defend, protect and provide. Your prosperity in this covenant is His responsibility. God has a consuming passion and determination is to locate His covenant people and bless them. Many times we look at how we measure up in terms of performance to enjoy his covenant prosperity.
This new covenant is all about an undying covenant devotion that propels Him to extend Himself to us with everything He is and with everything He has. This simply means He wont stop until He can see you reflect His glory.
It is a covenant love that won’t give up or quit until the extension of that love is satisfied. There is a perfect example of this in the story of David and Jonathan. They had a covenant between each other. When Jonathan died David still remembered covenant and looked for anyone related to Jonathan that he might bless.
Then David asked, “Is anyone still left from the family of Saul, so that I may extend kindness to him for the sake of Jonathan?”
2 Now there was a servant from Saul’s house named Ziba, so he was summoned to David. The king asked him, “Are you Ziba?” He replied, “At your service.” 3 The king asked, “Is there not someone left from Saul’s family, that I may extend God’s kindness to him?” Ziba said to the king, “One of Jonathan’s sons is left; both of his feet are crippled.”
– 2 Samuel 9:1-3:
Jesus is our heavenly Jonathan that struck covenant with God with our behalf. This new covenant is not between you and God. It is between God the Father and Jesus. We are of Jesus like Mephibosheth was of Jonathan. His son was crippled but He still received the royal invitation to be part of the King’s family and enjoy royal status. Our imperfections do not disqualify us for covenant prosperity. Jesus is our qualification. The covenant of

prosperity is so unfailing because both parties can’t err and we can rest in their abilities to be faithful.

David was consumed with locating an heir of Jonathan to bestow covenant wealth upon. This is just the same way everyday that God makes effort to reach through His grace to extend Himself to us with everything He is and with everything He has.  The eyes of David ran to and fro throughout the whole earth searching for an heir of his covenant brother to lavish covenant wealth upon.
How much more is God searching for us today and everyday! Be conscious of God looking out for you always. Always know that you are on His watchlist for blessings.
