WHEN ABRAHAM LOOKED UP

Abraham was told to look up after the “veil” was taken away. It was then Abraham saw his true possession. Paul spoke about this is 2 Cor. 3. We Christians often think that keeping the Law would lead us to earn our possessions. It doesn’t, it veils us. We think if we can pray hard enough, fast long enough, give well enough then we can inherit our possessions in God. This only puts us to live by the letter. The letter veils to the fullness of God. It is when the veil is taken away, we see clearly. The veil is the mixture of law and grace. That is the old covenant. When that is taken away. The Lord tells us to look up.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV) says “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” Our transformation happens when we see God’s goodness in the face of Jesus Christ. We see our true possession. It is the Spirit transforming us from glory to glory. True life change does not come from trying to live righteous but you behold Jesus unveiled in His grace towards you. Look up for the old covenant has been removed.

You remember the faithful night when he was asked to look up into the stars? God told Abraham, his seed will be as many as the stars. God said “seed”, not seeds. Paul says this “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”meaning one person, who is Christ. What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.” He then continues “ If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” What did Abraham see when he looked up? He saw many “seeds” in one “seed”.

He saw you in Jesus. We are complete in Him in whom are all the blessings of Abraham, How should you see yourself?
